Ans:                A modem is a machine that is connected to a computer. It helps to change signals from the computer into a form that can be sent over telephone lines.

Ans:                Sometimes computer need a system which allows them to share a single disk drive or a printer. This is where local area networks come in.

Ans:                Local Area Network or (LAN) is a group of computers and other devices in a small area, connected so that they can share a single disk drive and printer.

Ans:                A Wide Area Network or (WAN) is a large area network such as internet in which computer systems are connected by modems and phone wires or by satellites.

Ans:                Internet is a world wide network of computers. Through internet:

i)                 We can access or get information from other computers.

ii)               We use internet to do different things.

iii)              We can send messages, buy items online and do research.

Ans:                Taking files from the internet and saving them on the computer system is called downloading.

Ans:                Email is a system that allows electronic messages to be sent from one computer to another across a network.
