How do I turn a sound card on or off?

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
 
1. Click to open Device Manager.‌  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Double-click Sound, video, and game controllers to expand that category.
3. Right-click the sound card or sound processor that you want to turn on or off, and then click Enable or Disable.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
