Use Speech Recognition to work with folders and files

With Windows Speech Recognition, there are two ways to select and work with folders and files:

• If you know the name of the object you're working with, say that name. If you say the name of anything on the screen, Speech Recognition will apply your command to it. For example, you might say "click pictures."
• If you don't know the name of the file or folder you want to work with, say "number everything" and numbers will appear next to every object on the screen. You can then say the number of the object you need. For example, you might say "double-click five" to open the object with that number.

To open Speech Recognition

1. Click to open Windows Speech Recognition.
2. Say "start listening" or click the Microphone button to start the listening mode.

Frequently used commands for working with folders and files

The following table shows Speech Recognition commands for working with files and folders. Words in italic font indicate that you can say many different things in place of the example word or phrase and get useful results.
